Nothing Much

YO! well... its been a while... we dont have much to report really, the theatre gig went well, even though we were pretty dam nervous. The Heart Felt Ep is coming out mid this month so we'll have some news then.

In other news were still pretty bad at the quiz we go to every tuesday at the nation of shop keepers. if any one wants to join our team your welcome cos we need more people ahah.

Nothing much has changed really. Abi's going to uni now so we dont have as much time to practice or play, oh yeah we are stopping gigging until we get some more gigs as a full band! because we say so! because we can do that!

Sorry for the slow news!! xx

Putting the feeling in heartfelt.

As you may know we have been residing in Rob Slater's bedroom studio for many days recording the tracks that are going to be featured on the Heartfelt E.P alongside IMP. This is Robert Slater:

This is also Robert Slater:

The tracks are sounding really great so far! It's always hilarious and fun recording with rob and you usually produce something pretty special out of the songs you go there to record. Rob and i finished all our parts yesterday and now i'm completely wiped out. I suppose 3 hours sleeps and too much red wine the night before didn't help to keep my energy. We ate fish and chips and they were yummy so that boosted up the spirit to get going. Slater kicking my arse on tekken, did not. HOW CAN HE BEAT ME I THOUGHT I WAS THE QUEEN OF TEKKEN.

We have a busy Jeremiah week next week as we have 3 performances to do!

1 - We are doing an acoustic show at the theatre in the bar for their launch. This will include dressing classy, performing for an hour, in front of fat cats and arty associates and the like. EXCITED! (this is on the 17th and is an invite event only but im going to film it so you can see whether we made any faux pas (ha ha) haha?)

2- Next up is a FREE show at Carpe Diem in Leeds on the 18th in which we hope you all can make! Again it will be acoustic but we're going to try and put some little extras in their.

3- End of the mini tour - Yep that's right, i'm classing it as a mini tour - is at Escobar as an acoustic set again (maybe the rest of our band hate us) with Tiny Planets of which Rob Slater drums for and he drums for Jeremiah when we're a big band so we don't wanna tire that machine out! That's why we're acoustic. Wonderswan and Imp are also playing i do believe! So be sure to come down to that if you couldnt come to the other shows or you enjoy stalking us.

NEWSFLASH!

And if you all you eager Jeremiah fans out there (tumble weed enters and floats by) can't wait that long we have a show THIS SUNDAY which is TOMORROW 13TH SEPTEMBER! We are the opening slot for our good friends The Spills. It's the celebratory gig of their single launch. We will be playing acoustic as Slater is the leading man for The Spills. Man he must be sick of seeing us by now!

Okay we'll leave you alone now. But we shall leave you with this:

Tuesday 8 September 2009

Sunday!

Come and put a smile on their faces.

Heart Felt Recording

Hiya! I went to Slaters (Irene Cottege Studios) yesterday to record the bass and drums for our half of the split Ep we are doing with IMP entitled 'Heart Felt Ep'. It sounds really good so far. Slater has done the drums which makes the songs 10x better anyway haha. The songs we are doing are... 'I'd Rarther be Here' and a new song which no one has heard, not even us because we havnt finished it. It has a working title of 'I Was Your Knot' but that may change before the Ep is out.

But yeah thats it really, nothing much else has happened.

Oh yeah me and Abi and also Matty Smith and Beth Chesworth went to a music quiz in leeds on Tuesday. Our team was called 'Shut up Simon' on account of us hearing someone telling someone called Simon to shut up. We didnt do too bad, 20/40. avarage? Well we are going next week to try our luck again so we'll tell you what happens

Monday 31 August 2009

this has made me happy

So it's pretty self indulgent to post things im only excited about but i'm going to do it anyway.

I am so excited for the album and i loved this video. It cheered me up a hell of a lot.

In other news:

rob is now back from leeds festival, with all his limbs remaining. So we're going to be Jeremiahing up everything this next couple of weeks. We're recording at our good friend, rob slater's house soon for the two tracks we're submitting for a split ep with IMP. We're really excited about that. The ep is going to be entitled 'Heartfelt'. That's all we really know right now. It will have a track from us no one has heard yet. Hell we havent heard it all yet because we haven't finished writing it but hopefully it will form smoothly.

A blog about free singles we're giving out will be here soon.

SWEET DREAMS EVERYONE.

missing out.

Robs at leeds festival and he saw Metric today. im jealous but i won't give him the satisfaction of knowing that. I'm kinda glad im not a leeds fest this year but i would have loved to have seen Metric. I'm drawing a poster at the moment for our gig at carpe diem. I have no idea who else is playing and it doesn't say on the promoters website so i guess im just going to have to put our name on it. I don't think that would drive people to come. I'm excited for the gig. it's on the 18th september but it's without the extended family and will just be rob and i doing an acoustic set but i think we're going to plan some extras in it somewhere. If you're reading this come to the show its FREE on the 18th September at carpe diem in leeds. We might do some drawings and leave them on the stage if anyone wants to take one home. Or we might put them inside the singles we're giving out for FREE also. I'll do another blog about that with the details.

The day before that gig we are performing and providing music for the theatre launch event in the bar. I'm looking forward to that, as it's a different kind of performing/gig format. im going to take my camera and try and film it so we can post it for your to fix your goggles on. This might help as it's a private invite event i think.

I got caught in the rain today in just jeans and tshirt and the rain water was absolutely freezing and i starting getting this chesty cough and felt generally naff so i had to go home. This means i had to miss a free all dayer gig that my friend put on - Including some local favourites and Jeffrey Lewis. So i ate spicy noodles wrapped in my dressing gown listening to the rain. fun.

What she said...

I was going to do a blog about the gig but abi has already said all i wanted to say... bitch.

So instead ill talk about our audition thing we had today at wakefield theatre. Me and Abi met at the bus station at about 10 o'clock (early start, i had to bloody get up at 9:00... AM!) anyway... we arrived nervously at the theatre at about 10:20, we had to be there at 10:30 but its better to be early than late, ey? We asked for 'Keely'? 'Keeli'? at the box office and she came down to meet us. she was a very nice woman, we followed her upstairs to the bar and we played a couple of songs, these were The Wash and Juniors. she really liked them and she said she definitely wants us to play! she also said we should go into the wedding trade?

She apologised that she couldn't pay us (we didn't even expect to get paid) but she said we could have a couple of free tickets for the show they are promoting! cant wait.

-Rob x

It's gone.

The gig has been and gone and it felt brilliant!

That's right kids, SOLD OUT! By the way we couldn't move and the heat nearly melted us, we can verify that it definitely did sell out.

Okay so we had 7 people on stage and it was pretty cosy up there but it felt amazing, a massive family band super group! Hearing our once small songs with a full band sounded great. Rob Slater's drumming in incredible, it literally feels like the sound waves are going to lift you off the ground. We made some little mistakes but i don't think anyone could tell.

Our set list was:

- I'd Rather Be Here
- The Wash
- Matter Of Time
- In The Desert
- Do Whatever He Says
- Juniors
---------------------

All in all i thought the songs flowed together well. I was so nervous when it came to singing In The Desert but i really enjoyed it. It sounds super cheesy but when i was full of nerves i just looked up for a second during this song and saw jay and all my friends faces glowing under the neon lighting of that stage lights and just filled with utter joy and excitement. I felt very humbled by the whole thing. The fact all these wonderful, kind musicians took time out our their lives to help us out making our dream setup and the kind wonderful people that came to see us. MASSIVE THANKS TO TONI LINES AND STICKY SHOES. You took a risk with us and we're ever thankful for that. Our set seemed to go so quick. We will upload any photos we find hanging around over the internet when we can. I wanted to film the whole thing but my camera was just not charging very quick at all. I'm so lucky to have these experiences to be part of and to enjoy. Logically i really shouldn't have any part in making music never mind SINGING! i some how sneaked my way in there and i've sort of set up home in it all.

St Gregory also made their debut as a live band and WOW! More than i ever hoped for. I've been listening to Tim's stuff for a long time. When we both had our solo porjects set up on myspace we were pretty much the only people we had that listened to our tracks on a regular basis for a while. I've always been entranced by the songs and musical magic he's formed in from his laptop labotory.

I unfortunately didn't catch much of Mik Artistik, much by the fact i couldn't get into the room but what i heard sounded interesting. John Cooper Clarke, the man, the poet people had all been waiting for. The place was PACKED! it felt good to be a show that had that feeling of excitement and gathering at Wakefield. Toni should be proud of her self for brightening up such a washed up city.

Here are a couple of photographs i got:

St Greogry Orange whispering apologies.

Becky (one of the greatest ladies ever) with our awesome blue shirt L.A glow band members
Jim and Tom

Antonia Lines, the legend herself and me absorbing all the heat backstage.

too lovely talented bastards. i mean chaps.

Anyway that was just my perspective of the gig. I'll try get rob to update you all on his feelings and thoughts about it all.

The 19th has appeared!

Wow. The day has actually arrived. It felt like this gig was always going to be there. Some of you may know that tonight is our debut show as a full band. That's a nice subtle 7 piece band for you. 7 seems to be our number too because it is also the time we're on stage. YIKES! For the past few days i've been trying an array of sore throat remedies and i hope it all works, just for tonight. Rob came round yesterday and we had a mini practice and talked about the gig and im really excited but i dont put it lightly when i say I AM SO FUCKING NERVOUS ARGGH! it should be fun though! Some of the things we had planned for the gig couldn't be done this time round but they will if we ever get the chance to do this again. We've got a couple of things in store though. We're really excited to see the other bands performances too! - St Gregory Orange will be a treat i'm sure! i've never heard any of Mik Artistik yet and we're opening support for punk poet, John Cooper Clarke. Jeez those Sticky Shoes are brilliant indeed. I'm meeting rob about 2 and we're going to jinjas for some lunch and to share our nerves and excitement.

Oh if anyone is still needing information about this gig here it is:

7pm Jeremiah
8pm St Gregory Orange
around 9pm Mik Artistik
10:30 - 11:30 John Cooper Clarke.

This is a guest list event and it's free. AT THE HOP

In other Jeremiah news : we might be playing an acoustic set for the Wakefield Theatre launch thing. I think we're just going to be playing in the background in the bar whilst people mingle, darling. The lady who is booking us was supposed to come tonight but can't make it so we've got this audtion type thing on friday morning at the theatre. We just have to play her a song so she can confirm she wants us but she did say we're the kind of thing she's looking for so it sounds promising. We will report back with results. Oh yeah we only get to play one song for her so if you guys have any suggestions of which one we should play, do tell us!

sweat and nerves.

On sunday we had our very first practice as a full band. All 7 of us. It was a very noisy and sweaty encounter but a great one at that. It was a narrow but nice room and it became very warm very quickly and we looked like we were all going to melt into the carpet. It couldn't have gone much better than it did. We managed to play the whole set list together and go through all the songs a few times and it felt great. I'm really really excited about the gig now but also very, very NERVOUS. We're so thankful for everyone managing to take time to come and practice with us and be our kind of super group.

We want to make this gig fun and enjoyable for everyone who is attending. like a real live show. Whether we can pull it off is yet to be seen. we could get 200 tuts from the crowd. YIKES! we have a few surPRI(Z)ES. Lets just hope they work out.

Top 5 Studio!

Evening all,

Jeremiah have been a little bit busy these past couple of days. (Prepare for what could end up being a rather long blog. But don't fear most of it will be through images and videos!) Allow us to fill you in...

We finished up three of the tracks on the e.p at Top5studio (Jim's) which we are very pleased about! Then rob and jim engaged in some good ol' arm wrestling, on wheely chairs which had an interesting affect. Then the wheely chairs became this whole chapter to the day. In fact this video should show you the day well enough:

We will be back with a blog all about sunday's exciting podcasting.

scenes of social engagement

S'up viewers/readers!

Here is a video of one of the songs from our 3rd live set. It's at the Hop in wakefield and it looks like a community club for kids from da street with the graffiti in the background. However really it isn't anything like that.

New song and new pictures!

A song called 'in the desert' is now up on our myspace, it was taken from our live set in jims lovely garage/bedsit (we slept in there), It turns out there was somthing good to come out of a not too comfortable night! we also have a new profile picture along with 3 other pictures of me, Abi and her lovely kitten Poppy, i think Poppy is cuter than Pedro, but dont tell Jim that!

Live set...

Hey everybody, this is part 2 of the 'live set' blog. Except this one actually contains the link to the download it with! it's a little rough and sometimes out of tune, but you can forgive us right? there is no reverb, ut oh, ALL SAFES ARE OFF! - Improv, no reverb and no level changes.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/orsghe
yikes!

'oh shit it wasn't on record.'

sorry for a bit of an anti climax video there, we thought it was recording a lot more than that but it stopped right after we said 'hello'. I always knew the camera never liked Rob. We did sing an improvised birthday song for our friend Matthew but yet again, it didn't record. However i'm sure there will be a few stupid videos for you to laugh at us and not with us kind of thing, in the not too distant future. Oh yeah and the Simon Cowell picture in the background is Rob's...

In other news i'm finishing up editing the clips together for our 'making of the e.p' video. That should be up here in the next few days. We've organized to go finish the 3 songs we've recorded at Jim's and start 2 new ones next weekend. Today our friend Johnny has gone round to Jim's studio to finish recording some violin parts on one of the tracks. We hope to be bringing you Under All Your Shapes e.p VERY SOON. - just gotta do a shitload of filming for the music videos.

Stay good and wear sun screen

Live at 3am

On friday Rob and I went to Jims after a few of us had been to the cinema and for a good old meal.
We set up some sleeping bags a pillows in the garage studio and decided to record a live set. Johnny also came over to put some violin on one of our tracks. It was really fun, we had biscuits, juice and sore throats. On the live recording we did a couple of new songs that aren't really finished but it worked out pretty good i think. There's a cover thrown in there aswell. We fell asleep as it was getting bright again and the light crept in between the curtains.I'll post up a link for you guys to go listen to it when it's uploaded. Feel free to let us know what you think of it. The e.p is coming along aswell, just gotta get off our behinds and get these music videos shot!

Hello! We have finally decided on a name for our E.P and we've gone with 'Under All Your Shapes'. We will explain all meaning about it and very soon in another blog when we confirm the track listing. Today i've been making a short video for Jeremiah. Me and Rob just have to put some music to it, which will be available a free download when we post up the video if you guys wanted it to add to your playlist. I loosely wrote a new song we're going to try out when we practice tuesday. The video will be up to feast your eyes on and the song will be available for download round about then too. So do tune in and tell us what you think! The good, the bad the ugly go head!

Jeremiah Trivia!

I just thought that every time me and rob discover a good bit of trivia about ourselves, the band and/or other things we wanna share with you, we'll do a little triva post!

Here's one about rob i just dicovered, it's a quote and everything!

"ive never eaten a full bag of skittles in my life without being sick, its just skittkes tho, its never happend with anything else, its so annoying tho, cos skittles are soooooooooooooooooo tasty"

gigs pigs and rollercoasters

Hello! Just thought i'd update you on a couple of things going on with Jeremiah as we haven't said much for a bit. I've been away camping in sommerset for a few days and it was great! gave me some ideas for some new songs which we're going to get started on soon. These new songs might very well be housed on the Jeremiah/IMP split e.p which is going to be released on the lovely local record label, Philophobia! Here is the link for all things philophobia www.myspace.com/philophobiamusic I'm not too sure how much we can reveal on that so until then ill keep it vague but as soon as i can spill the beans, i spill 'em good!

In other news we've got a couple of gig dates situated in Wakefield and we would be very happy if you attended. One is in on the 12th June at escobar which should be fun as we've never played there before with Jeremiah. We also have one on the 19th August as the opener for the poet John Cooper Clarke and it will also see the debut live show from poptronica treat St Gregory Orange! I think i'm playing keyboard for that actually, which exciting! This gig will be at the Hop in wakefield.

Oh yeah, about the open mic night we played a couple of weeks ago: it was really fun. We got very nervous and we showcased the brand new song 'I'd Rather Be Here' which is the 'buddyholly' song we've mentioned in previous blogs. There we're some other interesting acts and the guy who ran it was very nice and a teacher i believe. Here are some photos taken from the event if you just visit this link CLICK and if you just go on to our photos you can have a look-see!

I've just got back from Blackpool, it was really spooky. Seaside towns are really surreal in the middle of the day on a wednesday. I went to the Ripley's Believe it or not museum and i believed it all. Me and my friend also went on this ghost house thing - really scary!

We'll catch you guys pretty soon, take it easy!

B-ball Baby!

I just got home not too long ago from recording and it's been really good. We took a break at one point to play some 'piggy in the middle' basket ball and it was really fun. Jim is a pro and it made me realize just how unfit i am. 'Ten Gold Stars' is nearly finished, put some nice piano it. I think we might rename that song though. i was thinking of calling it 'Juniors' which was it's original title. We also had a little jam with the brand new song we're writing which we're really excited about! This one has been written for all the band so i can't wait to put it into practice. Pedro was very cute today as usual, he fits into Rob's jurassic park baseball cap which is way too cute! I'm currently uploading some footage of making the e.p and a couple of clips from our last minute performance at the hop last friday. I'll have that up for you guys to feast your eyes on really soon, like tonight or tomorrow.

Oooooh how could i forget?! we got some exciting news the other day: we have been chosen to play at the royal theatre in wakefield as one of the variety of performances for the launch they do every year there! It's not till september so we'll have time to prepare for it which is good because we want to make it something special. I'm thinking since the e.p will definitely be done by then, along with the music videos, we're going to try and get a projector to screen our videos behind us as we play. Also we're going to try and put up some of our drawings and comics and stuff. But till then we have an open mic night to do this monday which we're still really excited about. It's also the day we get some of jim's lovely surprises :) we hope they go down well. He still doesn't know and it's a secret, ssshhhh.

Here are some photographs for you to look upon till a video comes your way:

Ep

The Ep sounds gooooooood man (and women). we really cant wait to finish it and let glide down the ears of all of you lovely people. i am in the process of trying to write some lyrics for this buddy holly song which is turning out to be harder than anticipated. I think what happens is, i sit down to write them but then i play on resident evil.

Im off to play resident evil

Wednesday 13 May 2009

Hello new

Hey! at practice we wrote 2 new songs and we can't wait to record and play them. We also have a full band line up now for live shows we think. I think we'll double check it again before we reveal. Rob went to jim's today to rock the guitar on some tracks, i bet he was distracted by pedro a lot! he is awfully cute and give you the i just-wanna-pick-you-up-all-the-time syndrome. We also played Grand Theft Auto and it was fun, the new one is soooo good!

Jinjaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Well last weekend we went to jim's house and had a bunch of fun recording. we've done the drums and guitar and even some vocals for 3 tracks already which was good. Jim stocks up on some of the best biscuits i've ever tasted, Amen! On friday we're returning to jim's to do some more recording, hopefully put some violin on one of the tracks! We're toying around with a few names for the e.p, none have stuck yet though. We're playing at an open mic night in wakefield at The Hop next monday too, so we'll be sure to let you know how that goes. Oh yeah after recording at jims on friday we got a very unexpected gig at the hop along side Andy and The Big Shark which was a treat! Also since recording at jim's we've discoverd a lovely little cafe' called Jinja's near the market. Exciting things are happening

It's true! Well it's exciting for us anyways. As you know we're recording at jim's house on friday and we're still very excited about that. I will also be filming some of it and i'll post it on here for you to feast your eyes on. Also, we've been having lots of ideas for the music videos to accompany the songs on the e.p and i've also designed the sleeve for it too.

On sunday we're doing a live set for the Sticky Shoes podcast and it's going to be recorded in harry's basement. Proper Wayne's World style, can't wait! We seem to have this new thing for pool. we wanna get really good secretly and then hustle at the pubs maaaan. haha maybe not but get mad skilllzzz to get jaw dropping facial expressions.

Rob's already said it but Pedro is soooooo cute!

We also had a chat to Jim about the records we're doing for the e.p and we're very excited. Recording starts on friday and we'll update you on how it's all coming together. I think pedro should be the Jeremiah mascot. Yesterday at practice we had a go at covering some Girls Aloud songs and it was really fun. Also we're working on this poppy buddy holly style track.

Kitten!!!!!

This is my first ever blog!!!! ever ever ever, im not too sure what im doing but i just need to state my love for kittens. After we practiced today, at the wonderfull place that is abby's house, we went to James Browns house to talk recording but most importantly... meet the most adorable kitten i have ever seen. In case anyone dosnt know... I LOVE CATS. I also love girls aloud, but anyway this kitten is amazing, i really wanted to squeese him, but of course that would of killed him... so i didn't.

We are going back next weekend to record so we'll get to see him again, we took some pictures and videos, if i have done this correctly a video should be below this line.

His name is Pedro by the way

That concludes my first ever blog, untill next time

recording, cuppas and kittens

Tomorrow we are going to have a practice then head to Jim's at Garage Studios to talk about the e.p we want him to kindly produce. He recently had a visit to his door by this east european boy who had a kitten with him and was asking around for people to buy it and it was all a bit suspicious. Jim being the hero that he is (he must took his cape into his shirt) bought the kitten just to put it in safer hands. We're excited about petting the kitten as well as recording. i wonder if jim makes a good cuppa? hmmm i'll report back tomorrow with the answer to that and many more intersting things

Newbies and where it all began

Hello and welcome to our blog! we are newbies but we wanna report all our band info and goings on to people on here for those that will have us.

A little bit about us:

We are a small band that has just recently begun, called Jeremiah.
Band members include: Rob Burnell and Abi Standish who contribute a number of instruments and noises to the project. When we play live, sometimes we will have a lovely backing band compiled of friends who don't mind helping out. We both come from pretty rubbish parts of England (Wakefield and Pontefract) but it's helped us form creative projects like this bevause well, theres nothing else to do.

Expect comics, videos, songs, links to cools stuff we think other might like, cats, crys and laughs from us and maybe some other tasty treats but for now here is a picture rob merged together on the genius and classic program that is microsoft paint

:Well all first pictures are meant to be a little unflattering right?

Here is our myspace page if you would like to be dear to your ears: www.myspace.com/jeremiahwakefield

Thank you and signing off
